Proyectos Tecnovo
Fly-In Project for the Public Good
Every Winter Term, students in the Interactive Media Master’s Program are sorted into teams and travel to an international site to work with a socially conscious client. There, students gather content and return back to Elon to create a multimedia website highlighting their client’s work.
Our Client
Each day, millions of people with disabilities in Colombia struggle to make the minimum wage to live healthy, happy, independent lives. Approximately 15% of the country’s population have some form of disability, and due to unjust laws, stigma and prejudice, they are unable to obtain a steady income.
Our client, Proyectos Tecnovos, is helping provide equal opportunity to vulnerable workers located in Bogotá, Colombia. The organization creates an array of handmade crafts, including ceramics, candles, textiles and wood pieces.
Our Project
My team consisted of seven iMedia students, including myself, who all had designated roles including Project Manager, Graphic Designer, Videographer, Web Developer, Photographer, UX/UI Designer and my role, Content Strategist. In early January of 2019, we traveled to Bogotá, Colombia for a week to gather content to create a multimedia website for our client, Proyectos Tecnovo. Upon return, we had less than two weeks to create a final project for our client and present it.
In my role as content strategist, I was in charge of communicating to my team members the best way for the information to be conveyed on the website. I was also responsible for writing all of the content on the site. On the ground in Colombia, our roles were blurred regularly, so I was often in charge of capturing a large portion of the video seen in the three videos created.
